On Wednesday evening, in Groningen in the Netherlands, Paléo Festival received the «Best Medium-Sized Festival Award» during the European Festival Awards ceremony, presented by the Festival Eurosonic and YOUROPE, the European festivals association that regroups more than 90 members from 27 countries.
This prize is in recognition of Paléo Festival Nyon’s position as a halfway-house between party and concerts, an eclectic event that has distinguished itself by the quality of its reception of the public and its success in satisfying the curiosity of the audience, the discovery of new talent and the promotion of less well-known musical genres. Both a springboard for young talent and a stage for celebrating internationally renowned artists, Paléo has progressively opened its doors to all kinds of music, as well as to circus arts and street theatre. The festival’s seven stages offer a choice of artists from all over the world, with particular attention paid to hospitality, the choice of food and handicraft stalls and the myriad scenographic and architectural installations that have transformed Paléo into a unique experience for festivalgoers.
More than 350 festivals were in contention at the European Festival Awards. The category Best Medium-Sized Festival is defined by the daily crowd capacity (up to 50’000 festivalgoers per day), and highlights the specific identities of the festivals.
Paléo Festival is extremely honoured by this distinction from it peers, who recognise the excellence of the projects that are developed and realised each year in order to ensure the very convivial atmosphere that is the hallmark of the event. The award is confirmation of the organisation’s policy in respect of the quality of comfort and hospitality offered to the public. The Festival organisation would like to thank the public, the volunteer staff, the artists and all the partners who have helped make Paléo such a special event.
