  • Paranda from the ends of the world

On a small piece of land that plunges into the Caribbean Sea, where the fresh water of the river mingles with the salt of the sea, Aurelio Martinez completed his musical initiation. From his earliest years, he developed an incommensurable love of the melodies of the Garifuna people, sitting on his mother’s knee as she hummed to him. He became Honduras’ first elected black politician, but above all he is a brilliant musician: singing, playing guitar and percussion. A specialist of paranda, a Garifuna music that mixes African percussion and Latin sounds, he collaborated with The Garifuna Collective before playing and singing with his own group. Just shiver with pleasure!
