- Flamboyant nueva cumbia
After several world tours in the company of cumbia giants such as Celso Piña, Hernan Cortes decided to found Kumbia Boruka. And boom. Off we go for another round of cumbia, that of the sixties, to which people danced and still dance in the popular neighbourhoods of Monterrey, in the north east of Mexico. If the group are past masters of classical pieces, they also know how to set them with brio to electric guitars, rhythm sections and wild brass instruments, setting the scene for a new wave cumbia or nueva cumbia: hybrid, modern and eclectic. All the flamboyant, dancing Latin energy of Mexican streets in a fusion of accordion, guitar and congas!
