- Cumbia from beyond the grave
The fine team of Los Orioles seem to appreciate the freshness of cellars and squats. Because their chicha - a type of cumbia from Peru mixed with surf rock and psyche rock - is extremely fiery. And it has a smell of vintage single malt whisky: a joyfully aggressive taste, subtly developed into several after-flavours. No doubt due to the afro-beat and dub notes that punctuate the more traditional pieces. Or perhaps because of the group’s leader, Dany Digler, a legend of Swiss garage rock. This summer, the group will be leaving their humid underground locations in order to move your hips in merciless fashion.
