Adieu Gary Cooper
- Sophisticated rock for a cruel world
Adieu Gary Cooper sing in French, but feed on American inspirations, from Velvet Underground to the minimalism of Suicide. On Outsiders, the trio take a new turn, at the crossroads of War On Drugs and Alain Bashung. No more love songs: just urban guitars and industrial drumming that recall the relentless mechanics of disillusionment. But no nostalgia either. The trio make a realistic statement about a society adrift, with synthesizers and muscular drum machines. They invite the listener to a desperate party from which emerges a glimmer of hope, nourished by the limpid strains of their sophisticated pop.
