Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra
- Balkan punk phantasmagoria
It was in the austere atmosphere of the post-Tito Yugoslavia of the 80s that the No Smoking Orchestra, with its unbridled spirit of protest, was born. A group of musicians who thrust the country into the garage rock era. Six years later, they were joined by a certain Emir Kusturica, who gave them the music of the movies Black Cat, White Cat, Life is a Miracle and On The Milky Road. Gypsy fanfares, country waltzes, punk-rock, musette ... their unza unza music is a fun, truculent, frenzied and unpredictable riot, which brings to life - in a few notes of tuba, saxophone or violin - all the imaginary fantasies of the Balkans.
