La Pegatina

  • Rumba urbana ska punk

Iconic group of the Catalan scene, La Pegatina have reinvented rumba urbana, that musical genre unique to Barcelona, imported by gypsies returning from Cuba. With brassy notes and federating refrains, the group have been drawing in crowds for 15 years, infected by the feverish ardour of their music with its quasi-punk energy, combining elements of Ska, Latino-Caribbean rhythms and rock. Their wild stage presence turns each of their concerts into a giant party. The hyper-excited audience then burst their lungs as they chant in Catalan, Spanish and French the kind of refrains reminiscent of Manu Chao, Ska-P and Che Sudaka.
