Lo Còr de la Plana

  • France
  • Occitan polyphonic festival

Since 2001, in the famous district of La Plaine in Marseille, Lo Còr de la Plana has reinvented southern vocal music, mixing it with the archaic sounds of a Mediterranean that is both harsh and untamed. Two instruments: the voices first, superimposed and answering to each other as though they were an echo of the sea and the mountains. Then the percussion and all that the body can produce in terms of beats: hands, feet and skin. During Occitan music concerts, there is a medieval and festive atmosphere that has built bridges with the past, the sacred music repertoire and the future of traditional world music.
