Ärtonwall feat. Malcolm Braff

Switzerland

Now this is something else! Adepts of seedy, noisy rock meet genial jazz pianist! Starting out under the banner “Romandie Sessions”, this creation, in the form of an encounter between two very different musical universes, raised an eyebrow or two. But the result is there for all to hear. The robust base is laid down by the bass and drums so characteristic of the brothers of Queens of the Stone Age, and the contrast is provided by the furiously free-sounding harmonies of a keyboard using multiple sound effects. The truth of the matter lies in the balance between rugged rock and melodic lightness. A veritable haven of creativity, from which conformity has been banished.
