The Alaev Family

Israel
Village du Monde

At the age of 80, Allo Alaev is still a virtuoso percussionist, and one who has played all over the world. He is also the corner stone of a joyful family big band, The Alaev Family, a reunion of three generations of musicians (his sons and grandsons), who revisit the Jewish music of Central Asia, and of their ancestral homeland of Uzbekistan in particular, in their own unique style. In keeping with current trends, their second album has been produced by Tamir Muskat of Balkan Beat Box, who has added a truly modern dimension with accelerated rhythms and electro-world sounds. These virtuoso musicians (multiple percussions, qânum, violin, clarinet, keyboards and vocals) then perform to perfection as they send out waves of their "Bucharian groove". Mazel tov!
