Johan Papaconstantino’s music is like a sunset on the calanques around Marseille or an intense stroll through the port of Piraeus, or simply the moods, loves and celebrations of a young self-taught Marseilles-based artist set to luxuriant pop. Accompanied by his guitar, his bouzouki and his machines, he also gives a second lease of life to rebetiko, the music of his childhood, that of his parents and of the underworld of Athens in the 1920s and 1930s. Mesmerising!
