Paléo Festival Nyon is committed to culture and calls on you to vote NO to the “200 francs is enough!” initiative.
On March 8, we will vote on the “200 francs is enough!” initiative, which aims to significantly reduce funding for RTS.
This initiative has a direct impact on culture in French-speaking Switzerland and also directly concerns Paléo.
RTS plays a key role in cultural life: it gives visibility to Swiss artists, covers small and large festivals alike, broadcasts outstanding concerts, and supports cultural creation in French-speaking Switzerland. Thanks to RTS, culture reaches a broad audience, far beyond purely commercial logic.
A drastic reduction in RTS funding would have serious consequences for culture:
- less visibility for festivals, concerts and Swiss artists,
- less support for local cultural and audiovisual creation,
- a general weakening of cultural content and information in French-speaking Switzerland.
At a time when culture is already facing strong budgetary pressure, weakening the public audiovisual service means undermining an entire ecosystem, from artists to audiences, including cultural events throughout the region.
For all these reasons, Paléo Festival Nyon calls on you to vote NO to the “200 francs is enough!” initiative, in order to defend a vibrant, diverse and accessible culture for all.
