Mixing the accordion with electronic music isn’t something most of us would ever have imagined, yet Antti Paalanen proves that an accordion can shake a club to its core. He draws on Finnish folk traditions and pushes them to the limit: pounding bellows rhythms, EDM, guttural singing and metal influences. Alone on stage with his accordion, which he affectionately calls the “Breathbox”, he creates an energetic, hypnotic moment that sits somewhere between Nordic trance and a handcrafted rave.
