Fresh out of a Rennes works committee in 2010 with armfuls of brass instruments, Volkanik has been bringing back Macedonian, Serbian and Romanian gypsy fanfare themes from its travels ever since — feeding them into shows that bristle with an almost unreasonable energy. Dressed as if they'd wandered off the set of an eighties German TV series, they hit the stage and give little chance to anyone who thought they were just popping by.
