Son Hermanas is an all-female ensemble dedicated to the traditional Mexican repertoire, in particular Son Jarocho, music played during the fandango or huapango, a popular festival in the Sotavento region of Mexico. Born of the need to create a space for women to practice in a predominantly male environment, the group is part of a feminist approach aimed at giving a voice back to women. So they are no longer just dancers or poetic objects, but the protagonists of a rich and evolving tradition.
