Paléo certified for its sustainable commitment

Following an extensive audit by the independent company A Greener Future, the Paléo Festival Nyon is delighted to announce its certification as a ‘Greener Festival’. This recognition rewards the Festival's sustainability policy. This policy takes a sector-based approach to the impact of the event at every level of the organization, from food and energy to mobility and soil protection. Paléo is one of the first Swiss festivals to obtain this certification, alongside major events such as Sziget.

An audit lasting almost a year

This certification is the result of a major analysis of the impact of Paléo's sustainability policy measures. In 2024, A Greener Future conducted an on-site audit of the Festival and analyzed the data for the edition, including waste management, energy consumption, food and mobility. The result of this independent audit underlined Paléo's commitment to environmental protection and the effectiveness of the measures in place to reduce its impact.

Paléo is proud to be certified as a ‘Greener Festival’ by this independent body, alongside other major festivals such as Sziget and We Love Green. As a result of this certification, Paléo is competing in the International AGF Awards, which recognize festivals' commitment and innovations.

‘The Paléo Festival has shown a passionate desire to create a green festival by observing best practice. Its team is working hard to achieve this and has shown an unwavering determination to continually improve in order to protect the environment,’ says Charlie Forbes, Certification Coordinator for A Greener Future.

EcoPaléo?

From the outset, Paléo has placed sustainability at the heart of its concerns. A pioneer in many areas, including waste management, returnable dishes and the use of 100% green electricity, the Festival is developing a 360-degree sustainability policy designed to reduce its environmental impact. Particular attention is also paid to its impact on the local community. Each year, Paléo optimises and integrates new measures such as, in 2024, the purchase of its own reusable crockery, which will also be offered to events in the region, and the densification of its public transport network. Paléo continues its efforts

In 2022, the Paléo Arts & Spectacles Association reaffirmed its commitment by setting a carbon reduction target of 25% by the 50th edition of the Festival in 2027. This certification rewards the progress made by the Paléo community and supports the pursuit of this ambitious objective. The Festival will shortly be unveiling its 2025 measures.
